Ivy

I create jewelry based on ivy samples collected wherever I travel . The Ivy series includes many functional pieces such as circlets, pendants, bracelets, earrings, rings, bolo and conchos belt sets complete with hat band, hair sticks, spoons, rattles, hair sculptures, eye glass pins, brooches, money clips, tux studs and cuff links. I call this an “open line”: although no two pieces are identical, this is a long and continually fresh series paying homage to the everlasting plant that inspired it. The series showcases the techniques of forging and repoussé, my joy in metalsmithing.

Ivy is a symbol of eternal love. For example, the scepter of legendary Pharaoh Osiris depicts ivy intertwined with grapes representing beneficent leadership.
It is a favorite wedding commission with each custom series using a pattern derived from an ivy leaf collected by the bride and groom. Such a series may include the entire wedding party: the bride’s jewelry, gifts for the bride’s maids to be worn during the ceremony, tux sets for the groom and groom’s men, and perhaps jewelry for the mothers of the bride and groom.
