About Calla Lillies

Calla Lillies

Part of several mythologies, the calla lily symbolized beauty specifically that involved with fertility and abundance hence its inclusion in wedding bouquets. The Romans also used it to honor any youth who suffered an untimely death. Early Christians associated it with the purity, and chastity of The Virgin. It is somewhat hermaphroditic in appearance containing symbols of both male and female in each blossom.
