Calla Lilies Collection
The calla lily is not a true lily. It belongs to the genus Zantedeschia. A member of the Araceae family, it is like caladium and philodendron.

In Greek calla means “beauty. In Greek mythology Zeus was married to Hera but fathered son Hercules by a mortal. Desiring to give Hercules more power, he brought him to nurse from the sleeping Hera. She awoke and flung him from her breast spraying her milk across the sky. Each droplet grew as a calla lily. Goddess of love and beauty Venus was so envious she cursed the flower with an unsightly spike in the middle. It is somewhat hermaphroditic in appearance containing symbols of both male and female in each blossom linking it to fertility and sexuality.
