Taos Morning Glories Collection
Use this jewelry and its story to escape to mythic Taos, New Mexico, the majestic Rio Grande River, and historic Taos Pueblo. As the breeze ruffles your hair, roam this western land near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in your imagination as you think of picking a delicate morning glory beneath a bowl of the bluest sky.
Dwarfed by an elevation of 7000' and minimal rain, the morning glories in Taos, New Mexico bloom beautifully. The almost heart shaped leaves unfold and lie flat as it heats up in the afternoon. The buds furl out of circular cups. The flowers have less depth of throat than other varieties. Each piece in the series interprets a real plant drawn and photographed on location. Scale of the circlets and pendants is life-size and represents an individual plant: each is different.. Where a single morning glory plant in Maryland could grow to cover a trellis, these are full grown in this size. Enjoy this series of beauties grown in the face of adverse condition of high altitude and lack of rain.
An amusing story about this collection is that those who own them are avid wearers of them. A collector was wearing her Taos Morning Glory shrug and earrings at the opera in Philadelphia. Her neighbor in the row was so complimentary about the jewelry that, at intermission, she whipped out my card for the woman to copy. She would not give the woman the only card she had left from me which she carried all the time to give admirers my information. Next day I got a call from her neighbor, a perfect stranger, about acquiring a similar set. Photos of what I had in stock were sent via cell. She made her selection, paid for them with PayPal and, with overnight shipping, was wearing them the very next day! I have never met this patron but the morning glories made her very happy for a very special occasion and many after that which she shares!
